ESC Pump Up The Site Event
PumpUpTheSite #2 is a special FREE event for web developers and designers and non-technical users to help create and launch a website for Empower South Carolina. A great cause will falter without a great web site. This is a community barn-raising to build a website platform so that Empower South Carolina can leverage technology to accomplish its mission of creating a new economic and education strategy for South Carolina to tap into the creative potential of everyone.
Because Empower South Carolina is a volunteer movement there aren't funds to provide a top notch website. Instead we've chosen to recruit the community to help make the project what it needs to be and to work together to build something greater than one person or one company. This digital barn-raising is going beyond just a website to build a platform based on shared knowledge and information, a masterpiece of a brilliant community. Just like the open source and Bar camp movements everyone is welcome no matter how small or large the contribution. In addition to web-developers, we need non-technical people who can't build web sites to help us build content and make sure that everything else makes sense.
We'll be meeting September 26th at 9 am at Immedion (map). There will be wireless internet, free food and lots of fun for all. If you don't have a laptop, bring paper and pencil so you can take notes, there will be lots to learn! Bring a friend and a sense of adventure. Don't miss this unique opportunity!
